By constantly looking to enhance its range of products and way of working Barkers Fencing has grown from an operation which started with no more equipment than a wheelbarrow into a thriving, still expanding company.
Recent investments to provide a more efficient service includes two new Bobcat loaders and a crane off-load wagon, while additions to the product range include paving by Plaspave and a superb collection of natural stone and blocks
The choice of decking has been expanded and there are now more than forty types of decorative aggregates to choose from, available loose or in bulk bags. The company’s main site on Spittal Hardwick Lane, midway between Castleford and Pontefract, is very much a one-stop-shop for a wide range of timber and concrete products including top-quality paving, fittings and accessories right down to screws and nails.
It also supplies Rolawn turf, an example of Barkers’ insistence on only supplying the best.
However, fencing remains at the heart of the company’s business. Trading since 1994, they estimate they‘ve supplied enough timber and concrete fencing to start at the M62 (which overlooks their site), head across to Ferry bridge, then all the way down to London and back. Barkers Fencing employs more than forty full-time staff in season, have a fleet of fifteen vehicles and carry a big stock of all lines for quick supply and delivery.
They offer an unbeatable service to the DIY and private customer and are the biggest supplier to smaller traders in the Yorkshire area. The team of estimators provide a written quotation for all work, they have seven fully qualified fitting teams and a list of trusted paving contractors.
